Our Standards

The standards we hold ourselves to.

Safety, privacy, accessibility and accountability — written down, so riders, families and partners have something concrete to hold us to.

— Standards

Written down, not implied.

These are the rules we run on — what we require of ourselves, of our drivers and of our vehicles before anyone gets in one. They are commitments we are willing to be measured against, and we will send you the documents that sit behind them.

/ 01

Passenger privacy

Coordinating a trip means handling personal details — a rider's name, where they are going, the time of an appointment, and whatever mobility or care needs affect the ride. We treat all of it as confidential, and we ask for only what the trip actually requires.

Our rule is need-to-know. Trip details reach the dispatcher coordinating the run, the driver assigned to it, and the person or organization that arranged it. They go nowhere else, and we do not sell or trade rider information under any circumstances.

Drivers are instructed not to discuss riders outside the trip, not to photograph passengers or the vehicles carrying them, and never to post about a trip on social media. Breaking that rule is grounds for removal from our dispatch list.

If you want to know what we hold about a trip, or you believe something was shared that should not have been, contact us and we will look into it. For what this website itself collects when you use a form, see our Privacy Policy.

/ 02

Driver screening and training

Before a driver carries a passenger for us, we require a valid Wisconsin driver license, a driving record we have reviewed, a criminal background check, and a drug screen. A driver who has not cleared all four does not get a route.

Where a contract or a passenger group calls for a fingerprint clearance card, we require it in hand before the first trip — not in progress, not pending.

Our disqualifiers are written down rather than judged case by case. A DUI, a serious moving violation, an offense involving violence, or a positive drug screen removes a driver from our dispatch list.

Screening is not a one-time event. We re-check driving records on a set schedule, and drivers are required to tell us straight away if their license or insurance status changes.

Training is a condition of driving for us, not an optional extra: passenger assistance and mobility-device securement before any trip involving a wheelchair, defensive driving, and the privacy rules above.

/ 03

Vehicle safety and maintenance

Every vehicle gets a pre-trip inspection at the start of the shift — lights, tires, brakes, horn, wipers and seat belts, plus the ramp or lift, tie-down tracks and securement straps on accessible vehicles.

Vehicles run on a scheduled preventive-maintenance program based on mileage and the manufacturer's service intervals, with the work recorded against each vehicle.

A defect that affects safety takes the vehicle out of service until it is repaired — at the point it is found, not at the end of the run. We would rather send a different vehicle than a compromised one.

Vehicles are cleaned between shifts, carry a first-aid kit and a fire extinguisher, and are non-smoking at all times.

We carry commercial auto liability insurance on the vehicles we dispatch, and a current certificate of insurance is available to any partner or rider who asks for it.

/ 04

Accessibility and passenger assistance

Accessible vehicles are equipped with a ramp or a lift. Mobility devices are secured with a four-point system and the passenger wears a separate occupant restraint — on every trip, including the short ones.

Drivers assist from the door, help with a reasonable amount of personal belongings, and confirm someone is there to receive the passenger where the trip calls for it. Drivers do not provide medical care and do not lift a passenger by hand.

Service animals travel with their handler at no additional charge. Tell us when you book so that we send a vehicle with room for one.

Tell us at booking if you would rather speak a language other than English, or if a rider needs extra time, a quieter vehicle, or an attendant traveling with them. We would rather plan for it than discover it at the curb.

This website is built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA expectations for contrast, keyboard operation and screen-reader use. Where it falls short of that, we want to hear about it — the accessibility contact below reaches a person, not a queue.

/ 05

How we handle a concern

Every complaint is written down with the date, the trip and what was reported — including the ones made by phone. Nothing depends on a driver or a dispatcher remembering it later.

We acknowledge the person who raised it, review the trip record, speak to the driver, and come back with what we found and what we changed as a result.

Where a concern involves passenger safety, the driver comes off the route while we review it, rather than after.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you are entitled to escalate to the health plan, agency or facility that arranged the trip. We will not stand in the way of that, and we will provide the trip records they ask us for.

— Speak up

Something went wrong, or something is in your way.

Both routes below reach the same dispatch team, and both are read by a person. You do not have to be the rider to use them — a family member, a case manager or a facility can raise a concern on someone else's behalf.

Report an accessibility barrier

If any part of our service is difficult or impossible for you to use — a vehicle, the way we take bookings, or a page on this website — tell us. We will find another way to get you what you need while we fix the underlying problem, and we will tell you which of the two we have done.

Alternative formats of anything on this site — large print, plain text, or read to you over the phone — are available on request.

Raise a concern about a trip

Tell us the date, roughly the time, and the pickup location, along with what happened. If you are contacting us on behalf of a rider, let us know who arranged the trip so we can pull the right record.

Safety concerns are dealt with first, and are never held against the person who reports them.

— Evidence

Paperwork beats badges.

You will not find a row of certification logos on this page. A logo on a website is not evidence — the document behind it is. So instead of listing credentials you would have to take on trust, we will send you the ones that apply to your organization, and tell you plainly where something does not apply to us.

Notice. This page describes the standards Selected Transportation LLC sets for itself and requires of its drivers and vehicles. It is a statement of policy — not legal advice, not a regulatory filing, and not a substitute for the terms of a specific agreement with a health plan, an agency, a facility or a rider. Where a contract sets a higher standard than the one described here, the contract governs. For how this website handles information you submit through it, see the Privacy Policy.
